- Take 1/8 teaspoon garam masala powder
- Get 1 little water
Peel and finely slice the onions, roughly chop the tomatoes and deseed and finely slice the chilli. Put everything in a pan, season to taste and stir well to combine. Pour into a sterilised jar and leave to cool. Heat gently stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
Instructions to make Tomato chutney:
- Heat oil in a pan and then add mustard, urad dal, cumin and dried chilli.
- Then add the onions and green chillies and saute it well.
- After that add the tomatoes and curry leaves, cover the pan and cook for 10 minutes in a medium heat.
- Then add turmeric powder, chilli powder, hing powder, salt and garam masala powder and saute it well.
- Now add a little water, stir well and cook for another 10 minutes in a medium heat.
Pour into a sterilised jar and leave to cool. Heat gently stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Put all the ingredients, apart from the vinegar, in a preserving pan or large, deep saucepan. Add half the vinegar and season. Place the pan over a medium heat.
