Heat oil and add urad dal. On a low flame, saute the urad dal till they start turning maroonish. Once the lentils get a maroonish brown color, add broken dry red chilies, cloves, black pepper and ginger. Stir until the red chilies change their color.

  1. Heat 2tsp of oil in a pan. Add urad dal wait till it turns golden brown in colour.
  2. Add onion, tomatoes, green chillies, garlic cloves, curry leaves, coriander leaves one by one.
  3. Add salt and saute well.
  4. Keep aside to cool and coarse grind.
  5. Serve with idli or dosa
