The ingredients needed to make Tomato chutney:
  1. Take 2 tomatoes
  2. Take 1 onion
  3. Make ready 2 tbsp chenna dal
  4. Get 1 tablespoon urad Dal
  5. Take As needed curry leaves
  6. Prepare 1 red chilli
  7. Take 1 tablespoon red chilli powder
  8. Take Pinch turmeric powder
  9. Get to taste Salt
  10. Take 2-3 tbsp oil
  11. Make ready 1/2 tablespoon coriander seeds
  12. Make ready 1/2 tablespoon jeera seeds
  13. Take 4-5 cloves garlic

Peel and finely slice the onions, roughly chop the tomatoes and deseed and finely slice the chilli. Put everything in a pan, season to taste and stir well to combine. Pour into a sterilised jar and leave to cool. Heat gently stirring until the sugar has dissolved.

Steps to make Tomato chutney:
  1. Slice onions, tomatoes. Take a pan and keep it on the stove. Once the pan heats add oil, once the oil heats add urad Dal, chenna Dal, add coriander seeds, jeera seeds, then mix it. Add garlic, onions, add salt, turmeric, mix it well in low flame
  2. Then add tomatoes, close the lid and open the lid, add chilli powder, mix it well.
  3. Once it cooked, let it cool for sometime. Grind it by adding some water. Again take the same pan add oil, add mustard and cumin seeds, red chilli, curry leaves then add the grinded chutney, pour water if required.
  4. Then transfer into a bowl and serve hot with Idli/doda/chapathi /upma and rice.

Pour into a sterilised jar and leave to cool. Heat gently stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Put all the ingredients, apart from the vinegar, in a preserving pan or large, deep saucepan. Add half the vinegar and season. Place the pan over a medium heat.
