  2. Get 5 green chillies

  11. Take 1/4 tsp haldi(turmeric)

Peel and finely slice the onions, roughly chop the tomatoes and deseed and finely slice the chilli. Put everything in a pan, season to taste and stir well to combine. Pour into a sterilised jar and leave to cool. Heat gently stirring until the sugar has dissolved.

Instructions to make Tomato Chutney:
  1. Heat a pan and add one table spoon of oil. Once oil gets heated, add Jeera. Then add green chillies, tomatoes, turmeric and salt. Mix it well. Cover it and cook it on low flame for about ten minutes. Then add tamarind and cook for two minutes. See that tomatoes are fully cooked. Switch off the flame. Then add Dhaniya leaves and mix it well.
  2. For seasoning, heat a pan and add the remaining oil. Add rai, udad dal and heeng.
  3. Once tomatoes are cooled, grind it into a coarse paste and add the seasoning.
  4. It can be served with rice, roti, dosa.

Pour into a sterilised jar and leave to cool. Heat gently stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Put all the ingredients, apart from the vinegar, in a preserving pan or large, deep saucepan. Add half the vinegar and season. Place the pan over a medium heat.
