Remove the mixture from the pan and let it cool slightly. Run Tomato Onion Chutney mixture in a blender / mixie to a smooth paste. Place all the ingredients in a heavy-based pot and place over a medium heat. Bring the mixture to the boil and reduce to a simmer.

- In a pan add little oil followed by gram dal.Once the dal is nicely fried add in onions & ginger. Now goes in chopped tomatoes. Saute till it becomes mushy.
- Add grated coconut. Cook for a min & switch off the flame.Let the mixture cool down.Add in mixture to the blender followed by red chilli powder & salt.
- Grind the mixture into fine paste.Season the chutney with tempering of oil,asafoetida & curry leaves.(this is optional).Its ready..
